6 Common Misconceptions About Branding


Hey Rotaractors and my dear Non Rotaractors!

You must have heard a number of times that Rotaract is fun, it provides many opportunities, it is internationally recognized, it indulges in many activities along with social service, it helps you grow in all aspects ETC,ETC,ETC.

Even though you know all the good points about this organization, you haven't joined it yet. Isn't it because you have heard something more than this? Something like, 'Rotaract is only for rich people' or 'Rotaract consumes all your time' or ' Rotaract is only for Rotary kids' ETC ETC ETC.

Well, what if we say that these are misconceptions? Yes guys, these are misconceptions!
Let us help you to know what Rotaract is not. Lets burst the myths.

Rotaract ONLY indulges in Social service  😓                                                              
                                                                                                                                     While social work is an eminent and prime objective of Rotaract clubs, we do not shy away from extending into other sectors too. We have been arranging various projects which barely indulge in social service. We arrange treks and camps, celebrate international days and festivals like Halloween, Diwali, Christmas etc. We also play football and other sports. We learn skills like public speaking, photography and self defense. And lets not forget the fun parties.

Rotaract will consume all your time 🕐

Rotaract do not compel members to dedicate more time than they can. Most of the members have duties to fulfill outside the group and hence all the activities are democratically scheduled for optimum usage of LEISURE time. There are many members in this organization who are working professionals and college going students, and mind you they don't have to miss out on work or college for Rotaract.


Rotaract is only for rotary kids 😓

                            
This is our personal favorite myth. Rotary kids can be a part of Rotaract clubs but so can other people. Rotaract memberships are handed out with no discrimination against any specific cast, race, religion, sector or any other group of people. No one is denied membership unless  the club has a concrete reason not to. So, even if your parents aren't in Rotary, you can surly be a member of Rotaract club.


(Rotary is for age group above 30 and Rotaract is for age group of 16 to 30)


Rotaract doesn't consider debauchery as an issue of action (google the meaning)

Debauchery is surely considered as AN ISSUE in Rotaract clubs. Clubs do not encourage any indecency. No person is allowed to do any illicit activity when on duty. There are strict norms regarding the conduct of club members. If any member is found flirting, drinking liquor, smoking or indulged in any other illicit activity while on duty, he/she will get expelled. Of course if anybody is found doing the same when not on duty, the club is not responsible for their actions (as it is not the club's concern what people do outside the group).

Rotaract clubs charge a hefty sum for membership 💸

Rotaract clubs charge a certain membership fee but it is not even close to being 'hefty'. Rotaract  Club Of Thane East charges a meager amount of Rs. 650 per year and almost all clubs charge similar, if not the exact same sum. The membership fee is so chosen that people from various sectors would be able to afford it 

You get stipend or salary in Rotaract 


Club members don't get paid for serving Rotaract. As Rotaract cannot promise a pay it makes sure there are a lot of fun moments to cherish. Rotaract is full of amazing experiences and I guess propagating content is more of a deal than earning for one's personal content.

Meeting the kind of people you'd like to avoid 👮                            


Yes, people from different socio-economic backgrounds can join any rotaract club, but, this doesn't mean that conduct and behavior aren't given utmost priority. Any complaint, regarding any person can be made to the Sargent At Arms of the club and necessary actions are then taken. So don't worry about any bad or vulgar approach towards you.



A part of the money donated by people is used to maintain the club and it's activities 👀


Money donated for the cause of social work or any other objective is not used by any club, even a part of the sum is not used by the club for it's own benefit, unless the donor is notified today before making the donation. Clubs maintain their autonomy and self sufficiency by organizing fundraiser events.


 


Rotaract clubs can only be joined by people living in their vicinity 




Our club's name is Rotaract Club of THANE EAST. This might make you think that people only from the east area of thane can join this particular club but it's not so. Rotaract clubs can be joined by any person living in any place if he/she is willing to do so. No discrimination is made based on whether one is a local domicile or not. Travelling to and from the club has to be undertaken by the members themselves, and hence they are advised to choose clubs based on their own convenience.
