 HOW IS TECHNOLOGY CHANGING THE FASHION INDUSTRY? 

SMART PHONES – The first smart phone was just invented 28 years ago which is in 1992. People actually started using smart phones around 7-9 years ago. That’s when online shopping started to rise. In Singapore 68.3%(2018) of people prefer online shopping.  

SOCIAL MEDIA – Wear it once season has raised, women's wear same cloths only a few times because they don’t want same people to see her in same cloths. Fashion model Kendall Jenner became the face of Estee lauder because of her 25 million followers on twitter and 85 million followers on Instagram. Even the small Fashion Labels can reach a large number of people.  

3D PRINTING – The first 3d printed dress was showcased on March 2013. It was made for Dita Von Teese. This new kind of technology can create any kind of design. This technology has a lot of potential though it's very costly.

FASHION IN TECHNOLOGY 

HUSSEIN CHALAYAN – He creates high fashion/tech dress like his 2007summer spring collection (Inspiration – spaceship). He even created a LED light dress in 2007 Autumn Winter collection. In fig 3 you can see how the neck line changed at first and then the jacket opened up and them the front lower hem started to open. In fig 4 her hem starts to flow and then it starts decreasing, it goes back to the body and then suddenly its textile. Fig 5 is the LED lights dress.

ANOUK WIPPRECT – She plays with 3D printing, micro controller, x-sensor. She works with bio signals of body and lets her dress react to it. (communicate true emotions). As you can see fig 7 she created an outfit, the spiders leg opens up whenever the body wants some personal space, if any one tries to come to close and she feels uncomfortable the spider will push the person back. In fig 8 the model has only one leg but instead of seeing it as a bad thing she used an extol meter from which she can control visualization and sound around her and whenever she will feel stressed at an approximate level the smoke will start coming so she can hide herself in.

WHERE FASHION TECHNOLOGY WILL BE IN 2022 IN SINGAPORE? 

 Fashion/tech in 2022 will be based on 3D printing. It takes time and that why its costly but it's easy and simple people can create their choices of garment at home in a cheap price. It will come to Singapore as well because it’s a wealthy and fashionable country. Singapore keeps it self-updated by the latest fashion.

* The online buyers in Singapore will increase to 74.2% by year 2022.
