Weight loss journey

Can i have a large meal with large fries and some extra nuggets maybe with a pastry? This was me almost every weekend back in 2016. Back then, i used to indulge in food every alternate day. I grew up as that one "fat kid" in my school who used to get bullied by everyone and didn't have many friends. I loved food and didn't believe in the concept of "Healthy diet". The result you ask? I turned into this fat kid who never socialized which was kind of heartbreaking.

This one fine day, i had a breakdown. I sat down and contemplated my life. I made a decision and decided to follow it.  The decision was to lose my weight once and for all. The first week began with researching on google the ways to lose weight, thousands of suggestions came in but this one advice written on Reddit by a random stranger could be one which influenced me the most. The advice was to "Don't lose weight because someone wants you to, lose it because you would want to witness a better version of yourself". Over the next 9 months, i was completely driven by this advice.

The primary attempt started with walking a few KMs which went on to run a few. Whenever i was working on losing weight and my body used to ask me to stop i tried to push myself. "Just one more KM" that's what i used to say to myself. Few weeks went on and i wasn't getting the right results which was quite disappointing and i went out to search where i was going wrong. The answer was calories in and calories out, the next day i started keeping a track of my calories. Started to eat healthy veggies and protein. The fast-food junkie in me hated all of it but the advice of "better version of yourself" kept me going.  Few months passed and my body developed tremendously. I started training rigorously, i used to go for a 5 km in the morning and a 500 m swim in the evening. This helped my body to develop an athletic fit one. Soon the fast food didn't tempt me anymore and the guilt of not working out kept me moving. And, 9 months later from a guy who started at 96 kgs turned into a 70 kg one.

I lost 26 kgs of weight in the course of 9 months. This journey was an amazing one. It didn't just help me to lose weight but also made me witness amazing versions of me. Just the fact that if i decide i want to do something and i stay dedicated and work hard at it nothing can stop me from pursuing it. It wasn't just about losing weight but also finding about getting fit both mentally and physically. The joy you get when you prove someone wrong who has an opinion that you won't be able to do it is just inexpressible. There's just something about being at your rockbottom that makes you do unexpected things.
