8 Food and Drink experiences you cannot miss in Mumbai:
If you're a foodie, then this is where you need to go in 2022!
Once a Mumbaikar, always a Mumbaikar! It's a legit alpha city that caters to dreams, big or small. You no longer need a boarding pass to satisfy your palate. Just drive up to these restaurants and let your taste buds travel across the world.
1. Foo, Andheri West.
When I hear about Asian food, the first thing that comes to mind is Foo. It has opened two new outlets in Andheri and Bandra. We recently dined at their Andheri outlet, which offers gorgeous indoor as well as cabana-style outdoor seating. If you love Japanese, Thai, and Chinese cuisine, then plan a visit to Foo in Andheri.
Must try: Truffle Togarashi Black Rice Maki, Spicy Hamachi Maki, Mushroom & Pepper Foo Bao, Wasabi, Truffle & Edamame Dumpling, Yellow Curry and Blue Butter Japanese Fried Rice, Mount Foo- Ji are a must try.
2. Maharaja Bhog, Juhu.
Maharaja Bhog stands for "Food Fit for Royalty." Maharaja Bhog is all about serving the rich and diverse Indian cuisines in the form of vegetarian thali. With authentic Rajasthani and Gujarati dishes making up the wholesome and organic meal, this is one traditional Indian meal you are not likely to forget.
Must try: Dal Pakwan, Rajastani Dal, Kadhi, Kesar Kheer, Mohanthal halwa, Veg Cutlet, Patra, Ghugara Chat, Paneer biryani and rasmalai are a must try!
3. Olive bar and kitchen, Khar.
Olive was one of the first places to introduce the concept of Mediterranean fare and fun in the city. Just like the city itself, Mumbai’s Olive is a bit of a chameleon: at bar nights on Thursdays, the place explodes with music and high spirits, but when you visit this place on a Sunday, you can hear lazy laughter nibbling on brunch dishes all across the sunlit courtyard.
Must try: Mushroom soup, pizza, gnocchi pasta, salads, falafel, fried chicken, and tiramisu are must-tries!
4. The Fatty Bao, Andheri.
When looking for a good bowl of ramen, the first place that pops up is "The Fatty Bao." You walk into the Japanese eatery-inspired ambiance that gives you an Asian explosion with food and flavours through their izakaya and noodle-shop-inspired menus.
Must try: Char Siu Bao, Mushroom Ramen, Chicken wings, Seafood Ramen, Sushi's, Chilli basil and Chicken fried rice, Japanese cheesecake are a must try!
5. SAZ American Brasserie, Bkc.
SAZ is named after the New Orleans cocktail Sazerac, and the restaurant is classic Americana on a plate—pizzas, pasta, tacos, burgers, grills, and the like. Dishes are familiar yet elevated to the gourmet level without being overly fussy. SAZ’s beverage menu has a range of spirits, wines, and "buzz-free" drinks, but it’s the cocktail menu that catches my eye.
Must try: SAZ Signature Guacamole, Avocado & Burrata on Toast, Porcini Pasta With Linguin, Cappelletti ‘Cacio e Pepe’ and The White Chocolate and Sambuca Foam are to die for!
6. 3 Wise Monkeys, Khar.
The concept of 3 wise monkeys was through the three monkeys of Japan- Kizo, Mizo and Shizo. You can hear music all day, but it is managed actively by a DJ after 8 p.m. daily. They have a lot of events lined up for almost all days of the week. One can experience Latin and Jive social nite hosted on sundays between 5-8 pm by Good Vibes. Karaoke nights are the highlights of the place.
Must try: Nachos and salsa, Pizza's, Chicken burnt garlic fried rice, crispy chilli potato are a must try!
7. Opa kipos, Worli.
Walking into the wide, spacious dining room at Opa Kipos is like taking a breath of fresh ocean air. This newest Greek restaurant in Mumbai could possibly be the prettiest in town. Its authentic Mediterranean cuisine, Zorba dancing, and plate smashing will definitely leave you wanting more.
Must try: Greek Salad, the Opa Hummus, Chicken Gyros (open flamed charcoal chicken, Vegetable Moussaka, Opa Baklava Sundae and the Chocolate Piato are a must try!
8. Neuma, Colaba.
A Bollywood filmmaker, Karan Johar, has recently launched Neuma, a contemporary, modern European restaurant. The restaurant, housed in a restored colonial-era bungalow, wins on that count too. The Neuma menu is a take on traditional European cuisine with modern plating and features produce-driven dishes designed to connect with the diner's soul.
Must try: Pappardelle Aglio Olio, The Harissa Cauliflower, Risotto, Vodka Vanilla Panacotta with raspberry sorbet and Sticky Toffee Pudding are a must try!
