K3G - An experience

“Kaun hai yeh jisne dobara mudh ke mujhe nahi dekha? Who is he?”

To say that this movie has impacted my life or my personality in any way would be a big, P.H.A.T (see what I did there😜) lie. My brain never absorbed a K3G character and turned me into a middle-class version of Poo but it did manage to make me love that over-the-top, extra love story with romantic songs that the guy would sing for you and it still has me wishing my bracelet would get stuck in someone’s kurta at least once in this lifetime😍

The story begins with this tight-knit, wealthy family who has everything in the world and who seem to be picture perfect and you get to witness this middle-class, shameless and extroverted storm (Anjali) enter Rahul’s world and wreak havoc on the Raichand family which is entertaining as hell. You see two characters who are so different yet so similar fall in love so naturally and their relationship throughout the movie will make you want them to be each other’s forevers too! The first time Rahul looks at Anjali while singing ‘Banno ki Saheli’ had me swoon over SRK for the first time ever and it still makes me go hayeeee every time I see it.

The best thing this movie gave a generation and still continues to give is the gold mine of dialogues and the songs. From romance to party to flirty to family, there is something for everyone. I have memories of watching all the songs on repeat and learning all the steps, now engraved in my mind. Those songs may be considered cliched or common but everyone knows at least one girl who wants to dance to ‘Bole Chudiya’ on her sangeet and that is a fact.

While being a family entertainer with filmy dialogues and catchy songs, it did have some unrealistic plots which I seem to find hilarious at the age of 24. Like how does ‘laddo’ turn into a super hot Hritik Roshan or where do these people get so much money from or why did I think that my college too, would be a big flashmob with hot people everywhere? But  I guess that’s the charm of a Karan Johar movie, isn’t it?

You watch this SUPER EXTRA movie and for a moment (or 3 hours) you forget your problems or the monotony that may exist in your life and just enjoy life as KJo portrays. It is not about reality or relatability. It is about imagination and hopes and the need to glam up once in a while. It is about being part of a larger-than-life family and just being a Raichand for 3 hours.

So consider this is your sign to go back and watch this cult classic and if you haven’t watched it yet - JUST GO and be sure to 😗😇
